Andrew SZENDE, Vice-President Treasurer

Andrew is in his 10th year as the CEO of the Electronic Child Health Network (eCHN). Funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health, eCHN is operating Canada’s first integrated electronic health record, serving Ontario’s 3 million persons under the age of 19.
From 1986 to 1997, Andrew was with the Government of Ontario in a variety of senior positions. At the Ministry of Intergovernmental Affairs, he was Executive Co-ordinator for Federal-Provincial Relations. He served as the Associate Secretary of the Cabinet of the Ontario Government and Secretary of its Policy and Priorities Board. Posted in Hong Kong, he was the province's senior agent for Asia in the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. He also served as the Assistant Deputy Minister of Institutional Health and the Head of Health Economic Development at the Ministry of Health.
Andrew has lectured on health policy, management and evaluation at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine and his writing in the area of knowledge management in the health care sector has been published.
Earlier in his career, Andrew was a journalist, writing in the Toronto Star about politics at the municipal, provincial, federal and international levels.
First elected to the FST Board at AGM 2003, Andrew has served as Chair of the Financial Affairs Committee since 2006. He was appointed Treasurer and Vice-President in 2007 and re-appointed in 2008.
Andrew has been a member of the Social Action Committee and Chair of the Access and Equity Committee. He is currently chair of the Financial Affairs Committee
