Bradley BERG, Ex-officio Board Member

Brad is a partner with the law firm Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, Toronto. He has a diverse litigation practice, focusing primarily on commercial, constitutional and Aboriginal law litigation. He has advised and represented businesses, individuals, municipalities and other public sector entities, not-for-profit organizations, and First Nations in a wide variety of matters.
Brad was raised at a fishing camp in northern Saskatchewan and received his Commerce and Law degrees from the University of Saskatchewan and his Master's in Law from the University of Toronto. He served as Law Clerk to the Court of Appeal in Regina and is a member of the Bars of both Ontario and Saskatchewan.
Brad is the past co-chair of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Committee of the Ontario Bar Association. He is frequently asked to speak and advise on equity and diversity issues. Brad teaches trial advocacy at Osgoode Hall Law School at York University and has written in the areas of litigation, jurisdiction, Aboriginal law, and equality rights.
Brad lives in Toronto with his partner Brian Rolfes, the Director of Professional Development for the management consulting firm, McKinsey & Company.
Blake, Cassel & Graydon's representative on the FST Board, appointed following the AGM in June 2002.
In addition to providing and coordinating legal services to FST on a pro bono basis, Brad has participated in the work of the Board's Policy Review Committee and Outcomes Task Force , and has been appointed Vice Chair of the newly formed Strategic Planning Task Force (May 2003) which will guide Board deliberations on a new Strategic Plan to take effect in April 2005.
