Peter KINCH, Ex-officio Board Member

Peter is a Partner in the Toronto office of Ernst & Young LLP where he oversees the delivery of client engagements in their Assurance and Advisory Business Services department. During his 20 year career, Peter has specialized in providing accounting, auditing and advisory business services to regulated financial institutions. He has also been involved in a number of projects assisting clients in managing their risks such as with business acquisitions or disposals, financial reporting and measuring enterprise risks.

Peter's career also includes a 3-year secondment to the Paris, France office of Ernst & Young International where he provided services to global clients in the financial, high-tech, and manufacturing sectors.

Peter is an active volunteer in community and school organizations reflecting his interest in children and youth and their families. During the past eight years, he has been involved with the Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario as follows:

  • President from 1996 to 1999 during which he led a major restructuring of the operations including recruitment of a new Executive Director and development and execution of a strategic plan.
  • Currently Past President and a Member, Board of Directors, LDAO; Member of the Executive and Fundraising Committees (1993 to the present); Member of Strategic Planning Committee.
    He also serves on the Finance Committee of the Bedford Park School Council.

Peter is a Chartered Accountant (1983) and Member of the Canadian and Ontario Institutes of Chartered Accountants. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Queen's University (1981). He is a Member of the Property and Casualty Insurance Auditors' Advisory Committee, Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada. His professional activities include speaking on risk management and insurance topics.

First elected to FST's Board at AGM 2001, Peter was appointed Vice-President in 2002, Senior Vice-President in 2003 and President in 2004 for a two-year term.

Peter has served as Chair of the Financial Affairs Committee, Chair of the Strategic Planning Task Force (2003) and been a member of the Executive Director Search Committee.
