During the past two weeks, thousands of Torontonians gathered for political debates, discussions, meetings and rallies. Queen’s Park, U of T campus, YMCA, Massey Hall and many other places across the Toronto were meeting points for people. Students, anti-poverty activists, non-profit organization representatives, people living with disabilities and their supporters, teachers, media, tenant association representatives and seniors raised their voices – and many creative signs – to have their issues and priorities recognized by the individuals who hope to form our next government. The most ardent issue was poverty, presented through all its various facets: lack of affordable housing, homelessness, low wages, welfare and disability rates and high tuition fees.
