Over the past 15 years, tuition fees in Ontario have increased four times faster than inflation.
Rapidly increasing tuition fees have caused post-secondary education to become unaffordable for many low- and middle-income Ontarians.

Last September, Premier McGuinty cancelled the tuition fee freeze and unveiled the "Reaching Higher" plan to increase tuition fees by as much as 36% over the next four years. As a result, new students at Ontario's colleges and universities will pay an average of $190 more this year. In some programmes in Ontario, fees will increase by $1,300.
