My Family Matters! Schools Project

My Family Matters! Schools Project is a new initiative to make schools LGBTQ family-friendly. We're bursting onto the scene with our first event, a FREE kid-powered art extravaganza and parade on Family Day, Monday, February 18, 2008 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Indoor family-friendly activities (art, music, costumes, food) from 10:00 - 12:00, followed by a parade into Nathan Phillips Square at 12:30. We are inviting media to be present only at the parade.

Please come join us and let's make sure Family Day is for everyone! AND...we have created a FREE sheet of eleven full-colour, queer-positive Valentines for children. See poster for a couple of samples. We're really excited about getting them out to kids, and into schools and the rest of the world.

Help spread the love! Valentines can be picked up at:
Sherbourne Health Centre (see Geoff or Rachel) 333 Sherbourne St. and at 519 Church St. Community Centre (see Chris or Claire) 519 Church St.

Sherbourne Health Centre, the 519 Community Centre and Family Service Association of Toronto have formed a partnership to support LGBTQ parents and children.  We are developing a new stand-alone website to provide information, resources, and opportunities for networking for LGBTQ families in Toronto and beyond.  The website will incorporate materials from previous websites but will require a new name, look, graphics, etc. as well as additional features.

We are seeking proposals from companies that have the capacity to provide graphic design,  technical functionality and ongoing maintenance of this website.

Requirements

Incorporate of several pages from former website into new website with appropriate changes, see  www.fsatoronto.com/programs/lgbtparenting.html.
Provide graphic and technical design of new pages, interactive features, lookup capability, and online ordering/registration forms.  Examples of website pages:

  1. Monthly News & Events page
  2. Capacity to upload brochures, posters, handouts, newsletter, etc for printing by consumers

  6. Workshops, Courses & Groups with online registration system
  7. Interactive message boards for parents to meet each other and network on line.
  8. Gallery of photos, stories, etc

Offer timely, accurate updating of content as new projects emerge or are completed, or as new information becomes available.

Create capacity for staff to upload new items themselves for routine items or updates.

Process
Please send a letter of interest indicating your company’s experience in all aspects of the work and your suitability for this project.  Please provide links to past work and indicate your initial ideas, time line and a tentative budget or fee schedule.  References from former clients would be helpful.  Chosen candidates will be interviewed by a panel representing the partners.
