FLO - Families Like Ours
A new group for youth age 13-18 who are the children of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender/Transsexual parents.
Do you sometimes feel like you are the only one with a family like
yours?
Do you want to find a place where you can talk about your family
with complete honesty and receive support from other youth who share
your experiences?
Are you looking to connect with other youth who have
a LGBTTQ family?
This twelve-week group will be starting in the fall
of 2007.

FAMILY PLANNING COURSES
Queer Parenting Programmes at The 519 and the LGBT Parenting Network (FSA/Sherbourne Health Centre) present:
Dykes Planning Tykes
A 12-week course for lesbian, bisexual & queer women considering parenting. This course explores some of the practical, emotional, social and legal issues related to queer motherhood. Topics include fertility awareness, insemination, parenting arrangements, coparenting, adoption, birth options, legal issues and more. Course runs in the spring & fall. Preregistration required.
Daddies and Papas 2B
A 12-week course for gay, bisexual & queer men considering parenting. This course explores some of the practical, emotional, social and legal issues related to queer fatherhood. Topics include parenting arrangements, coparenting, adoption, surrogacy, legal issues and more. Course runs in the spring & fall. Preregistration required.
Trans Fathers 2B
A 12-week course for trans men considering parenting. This course explores some of the practical, emotional, social and legal issues related to trans parenthood. Topics include: Course was piloted in 2007 and will run again in winter, 2008. Pre-registration required.
Queer Positive Pre-Natal Class
This weekend course for people of diverse
family structures and identities expecting
a newborn explores: the stages of labour, creating
a birth plan, life after giving birth, understanding newborns, and
much more - all in an environment
that celebrates your family and choices.
Registration: Courses require pre-registration to ensure a spot. Registration is done on a firstcome-first-served basis. To register, please go to or call the Front Desk at The 519 Church Street Community Centre: (416) 392-6874.
Location: The courses will be held at the Family Development Centre on the north side of the Central YMCA (entrance at 15 Breadalbane).

LGBTQ parents and their families also make use

A monthly queer-positive gathering for fathers &
their children (age 0 to 6). Meet other families
& find: support, snacks, activities, music, toys,
discussions & queer parenting resources. The 2nd
Saturday of the month from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Mum's the World!
A monthly gathering for Lesbian, Bisexual and
Transsexual/Transgender Mothers and their
children (age 0 to 6). Meet other families & find:
support, snacks, activities, music, toys, discussions
& queer parenting resources. The last Saturday of
the month from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
The Queer Parenting Exchange (LGBT parents)
Are you parenting and looking to connect with other
LGBT parents to talk about common issues?
Are you lesbian/gay/bi/trans and considering parenthood? Trying to
figure out how to bring kids into your life?
Each month we host a discussion forum on an issue related to LGBTQ parenting, as well as offer an opportunity to informally meet other parents and prospective parents. Snacks provided.
Dates: This Fall, the Queer Parenting Exchange will not host any discussion forums. The program will be available again in Spring 2008.
