Community Initiatives: Support Group
for Spanish Speaking Mothers
Program description
For the past 12 years, the Group for Spanish Speaking Mothers has provided women with children and adult children living with intellectual disabilities an opportunity to seek mutual support and to network with one another.
Many newcomer mothers do not have extended families living in close proximity to them. During group meetings, parents share their knowledge and their resources in a welcoming environment. In doing so, they help one another break down barriers that prohibit their children from integrating into the local community.
