Areas of Expertise: HIV/AIDS
Being diagnosed with HIV/AIDS means many changes in your life. You may feel frightened, angry, betrayed or alone. You may be wondering how to tell your partner, your family or your friends.
Family Service Toronto's David Kelley Services HIV/AIDS Community Counselling program helps people living with HIV/AIDS. As with any serious illness, living with HIV/AIDS can also put stress on your intimate relationships and your friendships - as well as yourself - as you deal with your feelings, and with changes in your health and your day-to-day activities. Intellectual Disabilities
If you are an adult living with an intellectual disability, you may feel isolated and alone. You may be looking for housing or a job, but aren't sure who to talk to, or even where to begin. Similarly, if you are the parent of a child or teenager with an intellectual disability, you may be in need of information, resources and support for yourself and your family.
At Family Service Toronto, our Options program will help with issues such as:
- learning more about intellectual disabilities
- improving communication between individuals and their families and communities
- determining and implementing job goals initiating or improving social lives
- changing or improving living arrangements
- obtaining referrals for help with psychiatric conditions or addictions
- building circles of support
