Adult Survivors of Childhood Trauma

Childhood trauma:

During your childhood, you may have experienced trauma of one sort or another: physical, sexual or emotional abuse; a natural disaster such as an earthquake or a hurricane; a war; a serious accident, or the death of a parent or other family member.

Any of these things can be devastating to a child. But sometimes even years after the actual trauma occurred, many adults still find they are affected by what happened to them as kids.

At Family Service Toronto, our Counselling Service helps adult survivors of sexual abuse and childhood trauma. If the hurt and anger still feel unmanageable, you might consider talking to one of our counsellors, or participating in a group of people who have similar difficulties. This will help you to express your feelings about what happened, feel listened-to and understood, and learn new ways to go forward with your life. Learn more >>

If you are a gay male adult survivor of childhood sexual abuse, please refer to our David Kelley Services page. Learn more >>
