If you are using a computer in a public place (library, internet cafe,
school) at work or at home, you might want to keep your visits to our site
private when somebody passes by your desk.
To do so, click on the "Hide Site" button, located on each VAW
pages just under the search box, and you'll instantly be transferred to
a search engine page (www.google.ca). To return to the page you were visiting,
hit the "BACK" button
of your browser's tool bar.
Delete your visits history
When you browse the internet, your browser stores information about sites
visited so that you can return to a place visited before or view a page
offline. At the same time, some websites pass data (cookies) to your computer
to provide you with personalized service, monitor your returns and pages
visited throughout the website, and produce statistics reports. Please
note that we do not store cookies on your computer, however, below
we'll show you how to delete cookies in case you need to do so in other
situations.
If someone wants to track your site visits, the easiest is to check your
visits history. In Internet Explorer this is possible through the "HISTORY" button
located in the top tool bar. When the button is clicked, the History bar
section opens on the left side of the screen, and shows the links for all
Web sites and pages visited grouped by days and weeks. In Netscape, the
list of sites visited appears when clicking the arrow at the right side
of the address bar.
To stop the average internet user from determining your site visits, you
need to:
clear the history (or delete certain website addresses that you do
not want to come up in the history of your visits
delete the temporary internet files (Internet Explorer) or cache (Netscape)
delete the cookies
How to clear the History, Temporary Internet Files and Cookies in Internet
Explorer 6 for PC users:
A. Clear Site Visits History:
To delete only certain webpages from History:
Click the History button in the Explorer toolbar
Right click on the page address that you want to delete (by using the
right button of your mouse)
Select "Delete" in the menu that comes up.
Right click on the next page address that you want to delete from history
Repeat steps 2-3 until you delete the page addresses that you do not
want in your History.
To clear the whole History:
Open Internet Explorer
Select Tools in the main menu (top of the screen)
Under Tools, select Internet Options
In Internet Options, under the General Tab in the History section,
select Clear History
Click on Apply and then click OK
B. Delete Internet Temporary Files:
Open Internet Explorer (IE)
Select Tools in the main menu (top of the screen)
Under Tools, select Internet Options
In Internet Options, under the General Tab go to Temporary Internet
Files section, select Delete Files
Select "Delete all Offline Content" box and click OK
Back in the Temporary Internet Files section, select Settings
In Settings, in the "Check for newer versions of stored pages" section,
select "Every visit to the page" button and click OK
Back in the Temporary Internet Files section, click on Apply and then
click OK
C. Delete Cookies:
Open Internet Explorer (IE)
Select Tools in the main menu (top of the screen)
Under Tools, select Internet Options
Under the General Tab in the Temporary Internet Files section, select
Delete Cookies then click OK in the menu box that comes up
Back in the Temporary Internet Files section, click on Apply and then
click OK
How to clear the History, Cache and Cookies in
Netscape 7:
A. Clear History and Location Bar:
Open Netscape
Select Edit in the main menu (top of the screen)
Under Edit, select Preferences
Within Preferences menu, Click + sign or Arrow next to Navigator (left
side of the menu box)
Then click on History
Under History, click on Clear History and then Clear Location Bar
Click OK
B. Delete Cookies:
Open Netscape
Select Edit in the main menu (top of the screen)
Under Edit, select Preferences
Within Preferences menu, Click + sign or Arrow next to Privacy & Security
( (left side of the menu box)
Select Cookies
Under Cookies, select Manage Stored Cookies
Under Manage Stored Cookies, select Clear All Cookies and then click
OK
C. Clear the Cache:
Open Netscape
In the top browser menu, select Edit
Under Edit, select Preferences
Within Preferences, Click + sign or Arrow next to Advanced
Then click on Cache
Under Cache, click on Clear Memory Cache
Click on Clear Disk Cache
Select "Document in cache is compared to document on network: every
time"
