Expressive Arts Group for Women
The Violence Against Women program of Family Service Toronto is offering an expressive arts group for women who have experienced partner abuse.
In this 7-week group there will be an opportunity for women to rediscover themselves and their voice through the use of different creative styles. Through movement, drama, painting and music participants will have the opportunity to learn, create and use their voice. The expressive arts experience can be a connection towards self care and re-building self-esteem.
Location: North York location
Date: Thursday mornings, November 6 - December 18, 2008
Time: 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Fee: No fee
Refreshments will be provided. Child care subsidy and TTC tokens available if needed. This is an accessible space
Art supplies will be provided and no previous art experience is necessary
Challenge of Anger Workshop
Family Service Toronto’s Violence Against Women Program (Family Violence and Community Support Unit) is offering a Five-Session Education Workshop for all women interested in learning more about anger and its impact on family relationships. Sessions will explore the range of ANGER and styles of expression, as well as assertive, non-violent ways of managing it.

Educational Workshop for Somali Women
VAW offers sixs sessions of educational/life skills workshop for Somali speaking women who are eager to improve their quality of life and live an environment free of abuse. Those sessions are designed for women to talk and have the opportunity to improve and change their way to deal with abuse and relationship.
Workshop topics are:
- Intergenerational conflict (parent & youth)
- Nutrition
- Abuse
- Stress management
- Anger management
Dates: Thursdays: April 12,19, 26, May 3 and 10
Time: 12:00p.m. to 2:00p.m.

Farsi Speaking Women's Support/Educational Gatherings
This program is holding monthly meetings (eight months of the year) for Farsi speaking women (Iranian, Afghani, Tajik). The meetings cover various issues such as women abuse, self-esteem, financial management, health, and women's rights, and include guest speakers, educational films and discussions.
Every month's program will be announced in selected community media prior to
the date of gathering.
Sessions will begin in April 2007.
