We've redesigned our website!

Post date: December 13, 2004

Earlier this year, FSA began a redesign of our website as a result of an internal evaluation and suggestions received from our clients and visitors. The primary goal for our website redesign was to improve accessibility for all of our visitors, regardless of their ability or the technology they use.

Our secondary goal was to have the website reinforce our new brand identity and reflect our tagline "For People. For Change."  In addition, we wanted to accomplish the redesign using only internal resources – and therefore at no additional cost to the agency.

Built in-house, the resulting website now has a new design, navigation structure and several access features (including accesskeys) that were unavailable previously.

The navigation includes one common main menu (top and bottom of every page) and a submenu (at the left side of the page) that changes from one website section to another.

In addition, all pages within a section (such as Media, Programs & Services, Get Involved, etc.) have a "breadcrumbs" menu, above the title. This menu shows the position of that page within the section visited and the website structure.

To help you, our visitor, find the information you are looking for quickly, we have changed the content and structure of the home page. Now, this page includes links to main website sections and the most important pages within them, as well as a search feature. In addition, a more detailed view of the structure of the website can be found through the site map.

During the redesign process we reviewed the whole website and added new content. For example, we now have a new section – About Us. Here you can find information about our mission, vision and values, strategic planning, governance, membership, funding, job opportunities or download the latest annual report.

If you are interested in supporting FSA, the new section Get Involved will show you how to do so.

We have also added a section on website accessibility, expanded the contact information page with maps of our main offices, and included a Frequently Asked Questions page in our Programs & Services section.

Because of the site reorganization, you may encounter an error message (i.e. Page not found) when trying to access a page bookmarked previously. Also, although we did not change many of the original page names, some pages have been removed while others now have a different location on the website.

If you encounter a "Page not found" message please use the search feature or the site map , available on every page including the custom error page, to find similar content.

Going forward we are committed to improving our website and making it convenient for you to use. For this we need your comments, questions and suggestions. Please send your feedback to webmaster@fsatoronto.com
